OTC Elite Set For Mt. SAC Relays

Eugene, Oregon – The Oregon Track Club Elite will send a contingent of athletes to the 52nd Annual Mt. SAC Relays this weekend.  The annual event will be held on the campus of Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California starting on Thursday April 15th and culminating on Saturday April 17th.  The early season event will give several athletes the chance to post strong early season performances.

The OTC’s Sally Kipyego will highlight the club’s entries in the women’s 5,000 meters on Friday night.  Kipyego will be looking to break her own OTC record in the event (14:52.67) which she set at the Boston Indoor Games in February.

Other OTC Elite entry highlights at Mt. SAC include a pair of US Olympians making debuts in their signature events.  Beijing Olympian Billy Nelson will run his first 3,000 meter Steeplechase on Thursday night, while fellow Olympian Christian Smith will run both the 1,500 and 800 meters.

Rounding out the OTC Elite entries are Kevin Chelimo in the 5,000 meters, while 2008 Indoor NCAA Champion Tyler Mulder will be joined in the 800 meters by teammates Matt Scherer and Elias Koech.
