Shadrack Biwott will do the Healthy Kidney 10K in New York on May 15. It's his second race in the city in 2010; he was fifth in the New York City Half Marathon in 1:01:52, and was also third in the Rock 'n' Roll Mardi Gras Half Marathon in New Orleans in 1:01:40. Biwott has run 5000 meters in 13:36 (in a victory at the 2009 Oregon Invitational) and 10,000 in 28:28. At Oregon, he was a three-time All-American in cross country, placing ninth twice at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, and he was eighth in the 5000 at the 2009 NCAA Track & Field Championships. Biwott was second in both the 5000 and 10,000 at the 2009 Pac-10 Championships and won the 3000 at the 2009 New Balance Collegiate Indoor Invitational. Originally from Eldoret, Kenya, Biwott later lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was third in the 2003 Foot Locker Cross Country Championships and had the top high school two-mile time in the nation (8:45.44) in 2004.  Biwott currently lives in Eugene, Oregon and runs for the Nike-sponsored Oregon Track Club. He will be eligible for U.S. citizenship by the summer of 2011. He'll focus on roadracing this summer and will go to Kenya to train with his older brother Duncan Kibet, who is the second fastest marathoner of all-time. Biwott hopes to make his marathon debut this fall or next spring; if not invited to do so this fall, he'd be interested in pacesetting in Chicago. He is coached by Mark Rowland.
