OTC Elite To Support 1,500s At OSAA State Meet

Eugene, Oregon – The Oregon Track Club Elite will be at Hayward Field this weekend to support the OSAA State Track and Field Championships.  The OTC Elite athletes will join forces with the City of Eugene Recreation Department to staff the Starting Block booth at the state meet from Noon – 6:00pm on Friday, and 1:00 – 5:00pm on Saturday.  OTC Elite, with the support of OSAA State Meet officials, will field Elite 1,500 meter races for Men and Women.  OTC Elite will have some of its top athletes on display to promote the State Meet.

In the Men’s race will be 2008 800 Meter Olympian Nick Symmonds.  Joining Symmonds is the second fastest American at the Mile in 2010, Russell Brown.  Also scheduled to compete are 2008 5,000 meter Olympian Ian Dobson, Stephen Pifer, John Jefferson, Ben True, Kevin Chelimo, Shadrack Biwott and 2008 Steeplechase Olympian Billy Nelson.

In the Women’s race, OTC Elite will have Sally Kipyego racing alongside Lauren Fleshman.  Kipyego was the fifth fastest woman in the world at 5,000 meters during the 2010 indoor season and has already run an impressive 4:10 1,500 meters this outdoor season.  Fleshman is the eighth fastest American ever over 5,000 meters and holds a personal best at 1,500 Meters of 4:05.
