What is your favorite and/or least favorite workout? I'm pretty even keel on workouts.  If I had to choose one, I enjoy lifting days because you get two easy runs and go into the gym. Just gives structure to the day and always leave feeling accomplished. Least favorite workout is probably 400 repeats at altitude, mostly because of the lack of oxygen and pain at the end from the gathering of lactic acid in my legs.

Do you have any superstitions? I like to say a short prayer and I try to wear a new pair of Nike dry fit socks for each race.

Why have you chosen to live and train in Eugene? First reason is because coming from Iowa, it is difficult to get in year-round training like it is in Eugene. But also because it's the Mecca of training groups in the entire world. Great coaching, staff, facilities, and it's just great working with other athletes trying for the same goal.

What is the most challenging moment you’ve faced as an athlete? Coming back from the 2012 Olympic Trials after placing 5th and learning to regain mental strength after falling short of my goals. Also suffering an injury the winter of 2012 was a hard thing to get through in such a crucial year.

How would you win The Hunger Games? Hard question but I suppose I’d sprint to the weapons and grab the most explosive thing near it and set it off leaving only me standing and making it the quickest Hunger Games ever.

What would be your super power and why? I would like to be able to teleport because it would save time on traveling to meets and visiting my family and fiancé back home in Iowa would be much easier.

Why have you chosen to run for Coach Rowland? Because I have faith in coach Rowland that he will help guide me to my dreams of being an Olympic medalist and attain my other goals throughout my career. I like the attention and detail he puts into our training program.

What is your spirit animal/what animal do you relate to? My spirit animal would be a panther because it's stealthy, powerful, and quick!

What is your most epic workout ever? All of my workouts are epic, but there is one I remember where I dropped my training partners Nick Symmonds and Lachlan Renshaw in Sedona, AZ doing fast 300s with short recovery at 5000 feet.

What is your favorite track and field meet? I always enjoy competing at Hayward Field, but my fondest meet is Monaco because that’s where I got my current PR.

What drives you to work so hard? Unaccomplished goals, and the thought of my competitors outworking me.

What is an interesting fact about you that we may not know? That I'm Native American and enjoy lots of coffee in the morning.

If you could road trip across the country with anyone, who would it be? My fiancé Kara and my golden retriever Miles.

What is the coolest experience you’ve had as a Nike athlete? Being able to fly to and compete all over the world, also meeting other athletes and getting to know them.

What is your dream job after your athletic career? Coaching Division 1 track, or become a fireman.

Who or what has been your greatest inspiration as an athlete? I get a lot of my inspiration from all of the coaches that I've had over my career and apply everything I've learned from them to my everyday training and lifestyle.

What do you do to unwind after a long season? Come back home to Iowa, spend time with family either on my parents’ farm or near my fiancés family on the Mississippi River.

What is the key to your success? Being relentless, and always maintain a professional approach regardless of any outcome win or lose.

Which teammate inspires you and why? Sally Kipyego because she is incredibly humble and does a lot for her community back in Kenya.

What are your other favorite sports? NFL (Chicago Bears) and NCAA football (Oreogn). I also enjoy watching NBA and NCAA basketball and attending baseball games.

What makes you different? I don't feel as if I'm a money driven person, so my drive comes solely on being a good person and making myself better each day in everything I do.
