Torrence, Conley Win Silicon Valley Turkey TrotPublished by
Former Cal star wins Silicon Valley Turkey Trot 5KPublished by Marinij on November 29, 2013 Oakland's David Torrence placed first in the men's division of the Silicon Valley Turkey Trot 5K in San Jose on Thursday. A former Cal All-American, Torrence finished in 13 minutes, 34 seconds and won $2,500. Diego Estrada of Mexico took second in 13:38. As a junior in 2007, Torrence set the school record in the mile at the California Collegiate Challenge, winning in 3:58.62 to break the almost 50-year-old record held by former Cal great Don Bowden. Santa Rosa's Kim Conley, formerly of UC Davis, won the women's race for the second year in a row, finishing in 15:29 to win $2,500. Sally Kipyego of Kenya was timed in 15:38 to finish second.
