Ashton Eaton aims to break the world record in Tallinn
Heptathlon world record owner Ashton Eaton (USA) has announced aiming to beat the current heptathlon world record in Tallinn, Estonia this weekend on February 5-6, 2011. The current world record 6499 points is held by Eaton himself, set at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championships.
Eaton will be making his attempt at the new world record at the Tallinn international indoor combined events competition, taking place with the Estonian Championships. His competition includes combined events stars such as decathlon world record owner Roman Šebrle (CZE), Jake Arnold (USA) and Estonian Champion Andres Raja.
Ashton Eaton says he is feeling good and believes the local conditions will provide maximum support to his world record attempt.

Estonia is a small country located in Northern Europe, known for its passion for combined events. Prominent Estonian athletes include Aleksander Klumberg-Kolmere, the world’s first world record owner in decathlon (7485.61 points in 1922), and Erki Nool, decathlon Olympic winner in Sydney.
