OTC Leaves Washington On High Note
Eugene, OR – The Oregon Track Club Elite left Seattle after a successful first weekend of competition in 2009. New OTC Elite Coach, Mark Rowland, was able to use the Washington Invitational as a benchmark for the season, and to see his athletes compete for the first time.
In the Men's 800 meters Matt Scherer led the way with his third place finish in a time of 1:49.16. Scherer was followed closely by teammate Kevin Hicks in fourth, with a time of 1:49.51. In the men's Mile, Don Sage finished 13th with a time of 4:05.59, while competing in his first race in almost seven months. The most impressive performance of the weekend was Stephen Pifer's fifth place finish in the 3,000 meters. Pifer's time of 7:54.59 is a phenomenal effort for January, which is a good indicator as he looks forward to the outdoor season.
