Symmonds - a 2002 Bishop Kelly graduate who won a combined seven 4A state championships in track and cross country - is scheduled to compete in the first 800-meter heat at 10:20 a.m. MST Friday. He placed second in the event at the U.S. championship meet two weeks ago with an indoor personal best of 1 minute, 46.96 seconds and ranks second in his heat behind Kenya's Richard Kiplagat (1:46.33). The top two runners from six preliminary heats and the next six times advance to the semifinals at 9:45 a.m. Saturday. The 800 finals are scheduled for 10:40 a.m. Sunday.
