Former Treasure Valley high school track and field standouts Nick Symmonds and Donovan Kilmartin will represent Idaho and the U.S. this weekend at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia, Spain.

Symmonds - a 2002 Bishop Kelly graduate who won a combined seven 4A state championships in track and cross country - is scheduled to compete in the first 800-meter heat at 10:20 a.m. MST Friday.

He placed second in the event at the U.S. championship meet two weeks ago with an indoor personal best of 1 minute, 46.96 seconds and ranks second in his heat behind Kenya's Richard Kiplagat (1:46.33).

The top two runners from six preliminary heats and the next six times advance to the semifinals at 9:45 a.m. Saturday. The 800 finals are scheduled for 10:40 a.m. Sunday.
