Eugene, Oregon – By:  Mark Rinker – OTCelite.com.  Oregon Track Club Elite runners Nick Symmonds and Nicole Teter represented their country admirably over the weekend at the 12th IAAF World Indoor Championships in Valencia, Spain.  Using the 12th edition of the World Indoor Championships for international experience in the Olympic year the OTC duo was able to take away many positive experiences.

In the women’s 800, 2008 U.S. Indoor National Champion Nicole Teter ran her fastest time of the year and an U.S. best of 2:01.73 in her prelim heat to qualify for the semi-final.  Teter was the only American woman to advance to the semi-finals.  In her semi-final, Teter missed the finals with a fifth place finish in 2:04.72.

2007 U.S. Indoor National Champion Nick Symmonds was the only American to qualify for the finals in the 800 in Valencia.  Symmonds won both his prelim (1:49.30) and his semi-final (1:48.43) on his way to the finals.  In a highly competitive final that saw a World leading time, four National Records, and all six individuals run personal bests, Symmonds also ran the fastest time by an American this year with his 1:46.48.

Following the Championships, Nick and Nicole will return to Eugene to continue training for the Olympic Trials that will be held at Hayward Field in Eugene from June 27th-July 6th.
