Russell Brown goes 3:35.70 in Mt. SAC 1500
Racing in Walnut, Calif. at the historic Mt. SAC Relays, OTC Elite’s Russell Brown set a personal best in his first outdoor 1,500-meter race of the year – clocking a time of 3 minutes, 35.70 seconds. Brown was in third going into the final curve, behind Chris Solinsky and BYU’s Miles Batty, but he finished off a strong 53.84-second last lap with a huge kick and took over both runners on the home stretch to better his previous PR (3:36.89) by over a second. His new PR puts him only seven tenths of a second away from the IAAF World Championships ‘A’ Standard of 3:35.00. “Russell certainly solidified himself as a one of the top American milers tonight,” Brown’s coach Vin Lananna said. “I realize that it’s early in the year, but it was a great finish and it shows that there are lots of good things to come.” Watch the race video on the OTC Elite website at: http://www.runnerspace.com/OTCElite or click here for a direct link.
