FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – March 28, 2008

Eugene, Oregon – By: Mark Rinker – OTCelite.com. For the second time this year the Oregon Track Club Elite will send athletes overseas to represent the United States. Ryan Bak, and Max King will both represent the United States at the 36th IAAF World Cross Country Championships on Sunday, March 30th in Edinburgh, Scotland. Both athletes qualified for the honor to compete for the U.S. with their seventh (King) and eighth (Bak) place finishes at last months U.S. Cross Country Nationals.

The trip to Scotland will be Max King’s second trip to the World Cross Country Championships, having previously qualified for the 2006 edition. Using his previous experience King says "I would like to redeem myself from the 2006 World XC where I was 57th”. King is looking forward to the challenging course in Edinburgh because he feels it will play into his strengths as a steeplechaser during the summer track season.

Ryan Bak will be making his first trip with the U.S. National Cross Country team and is keenly aware of the great opportunity he has given himself: “This is something I have been working hard for many years to achieve”. Like his fellow OTC Elite teammate, Bak is looking for not only personal success but also team success with the goal of a top five finish to do so, he hopes to finish in the top 35 in the world class field.

Results and other media from the World Cross Country Championships can be found on the IAAF’s website as well as the RunnerSpace World XC event page. Coverage of Ryan and Max in Scotland will also be available at www.OTCelite.com.
