OTC Elite To Highlight Exhibition Races During OSAA State Meet - OTCElite.com

Eugene, Oregon – By: Mark Rinker – OTC Elite will be looking to entertain the fans at the 2008 Oregon State Athletic Association (OSAA) State Track Meet this weekend. The annual State Track Meet will be held over three days at Hayward Field in Eugene, beginning on Thursday and continuing Friday and Saturday. The three exhibition races include a women’s 1,500 meters on Thursday, a men’s 1,500 meters on Friday and a men’s 800 meters on Saturday each race will start around 1:00 p.m. (PST).

Entries for the women’s 1,500 include OTC Elite team members Lauren Fleshman, Mary Jayne Reeves and Cack Ferrell. Fleshman enters the race with a lifetime best of 4:05.62, and is currently ranked 6th in the U.S. Reeves is a former two time NCAA 1,500 meter champion, her lifetime best is 4:07.37. Ferrell, a 5,000 meter specialist will be looking to improve her 1,500 P.R. of 4:20.11. She is currently ranked 10th in the 5,000 meters in the U.S.

The men’s 1,500 will be almost entirely made up of OTC Elite athletes looking to run qualifying times. Entries include: Tom Brooks, last year’s third place finisher at the U.S. Championships in the Steeple. John Jefferson, a finalist in the 1,500 meters at last years U.S. Championships. Ryan Bak a 5,000 meter specialist who made the 2008 U.S. World Cross Country Team. Don Sage the 2002 NCAA 1,500 meter champion. Sean O’Brien, a three time NCAA All-American at 1,500 meters. Bolota Asmeron, a 5,000 meter specialist with a lifetime P.R. of 13:15.16. Lucas Meyer, a Steeplechase specialist with a lifetime P.R. of 8:38.88. Michael Nicks also a Steeplechase specialist with a P.R. of 8:35.46.

In the men’s 800 OTC Elite will again have a strong presence. Nick Symmonds, the 2008 IAAF World Indoor Championship 800 meter finalist will make his season debut at 800 meters at Hayward this weekend. Also racing for OTC Elite will be Christian Smith, Matt Scherer, Kevin Hicks, Kevin Elliott, Courtney Jaworski and Elliott Blount.
