OTC Set To Compete At Oregon Relays
Eugene, Oregon – This weekend the Oregon Track Club Elite is excited to get back to its home track, Hayward Field, to compete at the Oregon Relays. The annual event will be held at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon on Friday, April 30th through Saturday, May 1st. The OTC Elite will have a strong presence at the Oregon Relays this year with athletes competing in events ranging from the 800 to the 5,000 meters.
Competing for OTC Elite in the Men’s 800 will be Matt Scherer, Elias Koech and 2008 Olympian, Christian Smith. In the Men’s 1,500 meters OTC Elite will be represented by 2010 World Indoor Championship qualifier, Will Leer, who is fresh off his carry on the USA DMR team at the Penn Relays last weekend. Also in the 1,500 meters for OTC Elite will be Stephen Pifer, Christian Smith, Ian Dobson and Ben True. Also look for the OTC Elite to field a 4x400 meter relay Saturday afternoon.
Competing for the OTC Elite Women’s team will be 2008 Olympian Jemma Simpson, who, like Will Leer, is fresh off a relay carry for her native Great Britain at the Penn Relays. Look for 2006 USATF 5,000 meter Champion Lauren Fleshman to make her 2010 debut over that distance.
