FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 18, 2009 Oregon Track Club Elite Wraps Up Another Impressive Weekend Of Racing Eugene, Oregon – The Oregon Track Club Elite found itself sending athletes to both sides of the continent, as well as England, for various competitions over the weekend. Matt Scherer was in Puerto Rico, Chris Thompson travelled to Britain for the BUPA Great City Run while Will Leer, Jemma Simpson and Brandon Shaw were in Los Angeles for the Adidas Track Classic. Chris Thompson, a native of Great Britain took an opportunity to return home to race at the famous BUPA Great City Run road race. Thompson finished sixth overall in a time of 28:45 for the road 10k. Thompson was the first British or American finisher in the race. In Los Angeles at the Adidas Track Classic Will Leer finished a respectable fifth in his season debut at the 1,500 meters, the event in which he placed fourth at the 2008 US Olympic Trials last summer. Leer’s time of 3:39.69 is the fastest season opener in his career. Jemma Simpson nearly won the women’s 800 meters in 2:01.58. Simpson was also making her event debut; the British native competed in the 800 meters at the 2008 Beijing Olympics last summer.
