UO's Ashton Eaton wins Bowerman Award as college track's top athlete

SAN ANTONIO -- Five-time NCAA champion Ashton Eaton from Oregon was announced as the 2010 Bowerman Award winner Wednesday night by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Eaton, a three-time NCAA decathlon champion, became the second consecutive Ducks athlete to win the award, which is track and field's equivalent of the Heisman Trophy. Distance runner Galen Rupp won the inaugural Bowerman in 2009, when Eaton was also a finalist.
